Dr. C.J. Woods is the Senior Associate Vice President for Undergraduate Recruitment and Outreach. Dr. Woods most recently served as the Associate Vice President and Chief of Staff for the Office of the President at Texas A&M University. He was responsible for providing counsel to the president and working on special projects and initiatives involving the President’s Office and its priorities. In his current role, he is responsible for leading the university’s undergraduate recruitment efforts, strategic partnerships with middle and high schools, as well as establishing meaningful community investments and outreach around inclusive excellence. Prior to joining the president’s executive staff, Dr. Woods served as an Associate Vice President for Student Affairs at Texas A&M University for eight years. He earned his Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Louisville. He also holds a M.Ed. in Counseling and Student Development from George Mason University and a B.S. in Political Science from the University of Southern Mississippi.
As an AVP in Student Affairs, areas of responsibility for Dr. Woods included the Memorial Student Center, Multicultural Services, Student Activities, Veteran Resource and Support Center, Diverse Strategies in Action Committee, Expressive Activity Committee, and the University Disciplinary Appeals Process. Dr. Woods also served as the liaison for Development and Government Relations for the Division of Student Affairs. Additionally, Dr. Woods coordinated the SAAHE Interview Conference and teaches Advising Adults Groups in the SAAHE program.
Dr. Woods is currently serving as Past-President of the Southern Association of College Student Affairs (SACSA). He enjoys spending time at home with his family, pets (cats, dogs, sheep, and donkeys), and traveling. He is also an entrepreneur and co-owner of two small businesses in College Station, Texas.
